Yes. Highlander designs, installs, services, and maintains commercial fire alarm systems for businesses, care homes and other commercial premises. We work with conventional, addressable, and wireless fire alarm systems and can provide ongoing maintenance contracts, fault repairs and system upgrades. Our engineers can also assess existing installations and recommend improvements where required.

Businesses and other duty holders responsible for most non-domestic premises in Scotland are required to assess fire risks and keep their assessments under review in accordance with Scottish fire safety legislation. Highlander provides fire risk assessments to help identify potential hazards, assess existing fire safety measures, and recommend appropriate improvements. Regular reviews help businesses maintain suitable fire precautions and meet their legal responsibilities.

Commercial fire alarm systems should normally be inspected and serviced by a competent provider at least every six months, in accordance with the recommendations of BS 5839-1. Some premises, including care homes and other higher-risk environments, may require more frequent maintenance. Highlander provides scheduled fire alarm servicing, testing, fault diagnosis, and repairs to help keep systems operating reliably. Routine weekly testing by the premises’ responsible staff is also important.

Scottish fire safety requirements specify interlinked smoke alarms in living rooms, hallways, and landings, together with a heat alarm in the kitchen. All required smoke and heat alarms must be ceiling-mounted and interlinked so that when one alarm activates, the others sound. Carbon monoxide alarms are also required in certain circumstances. Highlander supplies and installs residential smoke and heat detection systems to help homeowners and landlords meet the applicable requirements.
